A semi-conductor device comprises a semiconductor element 1 mounted between two contacts 3, 4, one on each of a pair of diaphragms 5, 6 secured together at their outer peripheries by an annulus 7 of electrically insulating material, there being a hole 9 in the semi-conductor element, in each diaphragm and 8 in each contact, these holes being aligned to allow passage of a bolt through the device. The bolt may have a sleeve of electrically-insulating material to prevent it shorting the junction in the semiconductor element, and is used to connect the device to a heat sink and/or lead members. In a second embodiment an array of semi-conductor elements are arranged in a ring about a central space through which the clamping bolt passes. |
