PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera and an image processing method by which a composite print composed of a plurality of objects is easily generated. SOLUTION: The digital camera is provided with: a means that picks up an object to obtain digital image data; a means that stores the digital image data of the photographed image; a means that displays at least a photography-object image being currently photographed; a means that designates at least one partial area or over in the image referenced for composition as a reference image area; a means that performs composition to display the reference image on the image display means over the photography-object image being currently photographed so that the reference image and the photography-object image are discriminated by varying the transmissivity of the reference image in the reference image area; and a camera control means of making control such that a main subject in the reference image and a main subject in the photography object image are made nearly equal in density and hue during the photography.
