<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a balloon catheter which is easily inserted into a body cavity by compactly storing a balloon part in a contraction state, and also is extended to be a sufficiently large size even in the large living body cavity such as an alimentary canal. <P>SOLUTION: The inflatable balloon part 2 is integrally provided at the distal end of a body shaft 1 in the balloon catheter, and is enclosed with a holding member in a deflated state.
