PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently reduce core loss caused by the harmonic components of alternating magnetic flux which passes through a main magnetic circuit without lowering of torque. SOLUTION: As a part of a magnetic element forming a main magnetic circuit MC, a harmonic magnetic flux suppressing element 10, which suppresses the passage of the alternating magnetic flux having harmonics higher than a specified cut-off frequency, is provided. By optimizing a magnetic material to use and shape and setting the cut-off frequency higher than the frequency of basic wave magnetic flux contributing to the torque of a permanent magnet type synchronous motor 1 and lower than the frequency of the harmonic magnetic flux not contributing to the torque, the harmonic magnetic flux suppressing element 10 can attenuate only the harmonic components of the magnetic flux flowing through the main magnetic circuit MC. Thereby, the core loss in a general part of the main magnetic circuit MC can be efficiently reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
