PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a vertical direction load and lateral direction load transmitted to tire from a road surface. SOLUTION: Strain sensors 14a and 14b are disposed on the upper and under side of the outer circumference of the vehicle body side raceway member 11 of a hub unit 10 to find a stress acting on the outer circumference. That is, among the force transmitted to the tire from the road surface, the vertical direction load acts as a wheel center input load on the wheel center generating a stress on the upper side of the outer circumference of the vehicle body side raceway member 11, and the lateral direction load acts as a moment load around the wheel center generating a stress on the underside of the outer circumference of the vehicle body side raceway member 11, and therefore the vertical direction load and lateral direction load that are transmitted from the road surface to the tire can be detected by disposing the strain sensors 14a and 14b on the upper and under side of the outer circumference of the vehicle body side raceway member 11, finding the stress acting on the outer circumference and finding the force transmitted to tire from the road surface based on the detected stress.
