The ignition module has an ignition transformer (100) with a non-closed core and a coil body (101) surrounding a part of the core. The coil body has recesses for receiving a part of a coil of a primary winding so that the material of the coil body is provided between the primary winding and a secondary winding (102) as insulating section. A magnetic material (105) is spaced from the core. The material extends along a magnetic longitudinal direction defined by the core. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) ignition transformer with a non-closed core (2) method for manufacturing an ignition module.
