PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber which can be restrained from deteriorating in splice loss even when the refractive index of a curing resin varies due to a variation in the environment temperature under which the optical fiber is used. SOLUTION: The optical fiber 10 includes a core 11 and a clad 12 having a plurality of cavities 13 around the core 11, and has a sealing part 16 formed by filling the end of the cavities 13 with the curing resin 15, wherein the length L of the filled part after the curing resin 15 is cured for forming the sealing part 16 is 7 to 8 mm.
