PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminaire having a glare preventing member in which a large working space is formed in a front direction of a lamp light irradiation and a lamp exchanging work can be done easily. SOLUTION: The luminaire includes a high luminance discharge lamp 8, a reflection mirror 9, a socket housing 6, and a glare preventing member 11. The glare preventing member 11 includes a cap portion 13 covering a top end portion of the high luminance discharge lamp 8 and a supporting arm 14, and a connection portion 16 formed on one end of the supporting arm 14 is connected with a seating portion 19 provided in projection on the socket housing 6 through a long hole 15 and a knob screw 21 which is locked in the long hole 15, and is arranged rotatable and slidable against the socket housing 6. A user loosens the knob screw 21 and slides the glare preventing member 11 and then let the supporting arm 14 rotate with the knob screw 21 as a supporting point. A large working space is formed in a front direction of light from the high luminance discharge lamp 8 and an exchanging work of the lamp can be done easily by the user.
