PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein conventional generators require a supply energy larger than the energy generated. SOLUTION: The power generation method comprises operating a starting motor by using a starting power supply; operating a first AC synchronous motor with a turning force to generate power; operating an AC motor with the output of the synchronous power generator; operating a second AC synchronous generator with the output of the AC motor to generating power; and switching the power supply to the starting motor to the output of this generator after power generation by the second AC synchronous generator so that power generation by the following processes continues, i.e., the operation of the starting motor, power generation by operation of the first AC synchronous generator connected to the motor, operation of the AC motor by power supply from the first AC synchronous generator and power generation by the operation of the second AC synchronous generator connected to the AC motor. Two or more AC motors and the AC synchronous generators are connected in series, the AC motors are each operated, based on the generator output of the AC synchronous generator of a prestage, and the AC synchronous generators are operated by a turning force of the AC motor of a prestage.
