PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display medium where light controlling panels having ribs are layered between substrates, the display medium capable of reducing image noise caused by the ribs and an electrode pattern. SOLUTION: The display medium is formed by layering three or more layers of light controlling panels each having: a pair of substrates each of which has strip-like electrodes arranged side by side via gaps having fixed width on each substrate surface, the substrates being arranged opposite to each other so that the strip-like electrodes are orthogonal to directions x and y; the ribs linearly disposed in the directions x and y in gaps between the strip-like electrodes, separating the pair of substrates and forming a plurality of rectangular cells having a fixed area between the substrates; and light controlling layers provided in the plurality of rectangular cells, wherein the position of at least one of the gap between the electrodes and the rib in one or more light controlling layers of the three or more layers of light controlling panels is deviated from that of the other light controlling panel in a direction z to be a layered direction.
