摘要 [PROBLEMS] To provide a positive electrode composition, which can improve the utilization of an active material and can realize high energy density, by using a raw material of substantially the same cost as the conventional storage battery particularly in a positive electrode plate for a rechargeable battery. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A positive electrode composition for a rechargeable battery, which is a kneaded product containing a raw material for an active material containing a metal and an oxide of the metal, and carbon having a total oil absorption of not less than 9.6 ml based on one mole of the raw material for an active material. The bulk density in an unconverted state after filling in a grid current collector and drying is not less than 2.2 × 10-1 ml/g, and the carbon is acetylene black and/or furnace carbon. The kneaded product preferably further contains sulfuric acid. The kneaded product is produced by kneading water with carbon to produce a primary kneaded product, adding lead powder and water to the primary kneaded product, further kneading the mixture to produce a kneaded product. When a kneaded product containing sulfuric acid is produced, sulfuric acid is added to the primary kneaded product.
