PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water cutoff method capable of surely cutting off water at the intersection between a tunnel laterally excavated in a ground and a shaft vertically excavated in the ground. SOLUTION: In this water cutoff method, the intersected area between the tunnel 5 laterally excavated in the ground G and the shaft H excavated in the ground. The method comprises a step of confirming whether the shaft H is drilled toward the intersection thereof with the tunnel 5 or not (See Figs. 2, 3) and a step of solidifying the area around the intersection between the shaft H and the tunnel 5 (See Fig. 6).
