PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic signal control system, a traffic signal control unit, an onboard device and a traffic signal control method which can effectively switch a signal light color at a slave road side to blue, and can shorten the signal standby time of a vehicle at the slave road side. SOLUTION: An on-road device 3 transmits traffic information, semi-sensitive intersection information and on-road device ID information to the onboard device 2. The onboard device 2 decides whether or not a guide path to a destination goes via an intersection I, and whether or not semi-sensitive control is permitted at the intersection I, and whether or not a slave road RS1 is a slave road based on the above information, and when deciding that any of them is positive, the onboard device 2 transmits sensitive request information to the on-road device 3. When receiving the sensitive request information, a traffic signal control unit 1a switches the signal light color at the slave road RS1 side to blue after the lapse of a preliminarily set blue switching time T.
