PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television device that prevents unexpected high-volume sound from being output due to a difference in sound-volume reference value for each optical disk when an optical disk to be reproduced is changed. SOLUTION: The television device is provided with an image detection part for comfirming an image generated by an image reproduction part so as to determine whether or not it is a predetermined prescribed image. The device is also provided with a sound-volume determination part that determines whether or not output sound-volume set by a sound signal output part exceeds a predetermined threshold. When the predetermined prescribed image is detected by the image detection part, the sound-volume determination part determines the output sound-volume. As a result of the determination, when the output sound-volume exceeds the threshold, the output sound-volume is set to a predetermined prescribed value, for example, to an intermediate value or the like between a maximum value and a minimum value.
