PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing solid silicon (1) by which solid silicon (1) obtained by crystallizing silicon melted in an aluminum melt (2) can easily be separated and taken out of the aluminum melt (2). SOLUTION: The method for producing solid silicon includes bringing a cooling body (3) into contact with a silicon-containing aluminum melt (2) to crystallize the silicon as solid silicon (1) on a surface of the cooling body. A silicon content in the aluminum melt is usually 20-60 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of a total content of the aluminum and silicon, the temperature (T<SB>2</SB>) of the aluminum melt is from (its liquidus temperature T<SB>L</SB>-10°C) to (T<SB>L</SB>+150°C), the temperature (T<SB>3</SB>) of the cooling body is above a eutectic temperature (T<SB>C</SB>) of the aluminum melt and below T<SB>L</SB>. The aluminum melt (2) is obtained, e.g., by blowing a silicon halide represented by formula (I): SiH<SB>n</SB>X<SB>4-n</SB>(wherein, n is an integer of 0-3, and X is a halogen atom) into metal aluminum melted by heating.
