PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binding implement in which binding rods for binding an object for filing are prevented from coming off inadvertently from opening/closing side plates. SOLUTION: The binding implement is composed of a first body 204 having a first binding rod, a second body 208 having a second binding rod to be linked with the first rod, pivots 80, 82 installed on both sides in the width direction of a base 20, and an engaging side plate fixed so as to freely swing by the pivot on both sides in the width direction of the base 20. To a locking part 104 for restraining the first engaging side plate 92 constituting the engaging side plates and the first body 204, and to a locking part 106 for restraining the second engaging side plate 94 and the second body 208, for the purpose of sliding the first and the second body 204, 208 and reinforcing the engaging force of the locking parts 104, 106; the first and second bodies 204, 208, the first and/or second engaging side plates 92, 94, and/or the base 20 are equipped with a contact means comprising an engaging force-reinforcing part 230, wherein at least a part of these components are in contact with it.
