PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinding work monitoring system and grinding work monitoring method capable of detecting during grinding work that a phenomenon (grinding burn) of heating a workpiece as a grinding work target and lowering the hardness due to temper softening occurs and that a grindstone used for the grinding work is deteriorated. SOLUTION: The grinding work monitoring system is provided with vibration detectors (3, 6), an amplifier (7) for converting vibration detected by the vibration detectors (3, 6) to voltage waveforms and amplifying them, a Fourier transform device (8) for performing frequency resolution of the voltage waveforms from the amplifier (7), and a control device (personal computer 10). The control device (10) performs control to compare a vibration level at specific frequency obtained by the frequency resolution with a threshold value and determine improperness when the vibration level exceeds the threshold value.
