A target speed following method of a hill descent control system for vehicles is provided to reduce the following time and stably follow the target speed when following a target speed in the hill descent control system. A target speed following method of a hill descent control system for vehicle comprises the steps of: checking if an absolute value of current vehicle speed is more than a first limit value(TH1) compared to a target speed(TS) in a state that an HDC on/off switch is turned on; performing reduced speed control to a predetermined reduced speed value to rapidly reduce the vehicle speed if the absolute value of current vehicle speed is more than the first limit value(TH1); performing speed control to slowly reduce the vehicle speed if the absolute value of current vehicle speed is less than the first limit value(TH1); and stopping the reduced speed control and converting the reduced speed control to the speed control if the current vehicle speed becomes a value less than the first limit value(TH1) by the reduced speed control. |
