<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric actuator and a driving method therefor which suppress current generated by the free oscillation of a piezoelectric element to reduce power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: A driving circuit generates a voltage waveform that forms a transition period of no voltage application between a first voltage level period and a second voltage level period that are different from each other. A voltage applied to the piezoelectric element 1 is controlled by the voltage waveform.
