PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift-by-wire system for enhancing safety. SOLUTION: In the shift-by-wire system, a shift control device for electrically controlling output of a shift actuator for range switch of an automatic transmission according to a shift instruction refuses input shift instructions (S106, S114) by detecting an obstacle obstructing travel of a vehicle in a travelling range (S104, S112) in the case where a shift instruction of which switching target is a travelling range is input (S101, S103, S111).
