PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress fluctuation of luminance in a liquid crystal display device having a curved surface shape. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display 30a includes a liquid crystal display panel 20a wherein a plurality of pixels are provided in a matrix shape and which is curved in one direction and a backlight 10a of an edge light system which is curved in one direction so as to be opposed to the liquid crystal display panel 20a. The backlight 10a has an emission angle adjusting part for emitting light from a light source in the normal direction of an emission surface for every region corresponding to each pixel and a center angle of an arc formed by a cross section along circumferential direction of the liquid crystal display panel 20a is set to be≤1/2 of an angle range in which luminance of emission light is in a prescribed range based on luminance distribution formed by previously measuring luminance of emission light at measuring points on a circumferential surface of the backlight 10a over a necessary angle.
