PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the linearity of an output signal for the displacement of a displacement body. SOLUTION: An oscillating circuit 3 outputs oscillation signals having a frequency corresponding to an inductance L of a displacement detecting coil 1. An oscillation cycle measuring circuit 4 measures the cycle of the oscillation signals outputted from the oscillating circuit 3 and outputs a signal corresponding to the measured cycle. A square circuit 5 computes and outputs a square value of the signal outputted from the oscillation cycle measuring circuit 4. The square value of the cycle of the oscillation signals is computed and outputted to eliminate a square root component of an inductance (L) component and a capacity (C) component and to turn the output signal into a signal varying in a linear relationship for the displacement of the displacement body.
