PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable capacity liquid receiver capable of securing control stability of capacity change while having a simple structure. SOLUTION: The variable capacity liquid receiver 3 for making a gas-liquid-mixed high pressure refrigerant from a main condenser 2 in a refrigerant circulation path of a refrigerating cycle to flow into a tank main body 31 and separating the gas and liquid, is equipped with: divided chambers A, B formed by dividing the inner volume of the tank main body 31 into a plurality; a check valve 33 installed at a communicating position of the adjacent divided chambers in the plurality of divided chambers A, B, allowing only the refrigerant flow in the refrigerant circulating direction, and inhibiting the refrigerant flow in the reverse direction from the refrigerant circulating direction; a plurality of refrigerant inflow paths 37, 38 branched from a refrigerant inflow path 36 of the main condenser 2 and provided communicated with the plurality of the divided chambers A, B, respectively; and a refrigerant inflow path switching means for switchably selecting the plurality of refrigerant inflow paths 37, 38.
