A device for peeling an onion like product having a top end portion and a tail end portion interconnected by an axis, comprising a transport track for transporting the onion like product in a oriented position, first cutting means for removing the top end portion and the tail end portion, second cutting means for the incision of the circumferential portion of the onion like product, the incision being positioned in a plane containing the axis of the onion like product, which second cutting containing a number of knife-edges which are mounted on two pairs of arms, a first pair for the incision of the leading part of the onion like product and a second pair for the incision of the tailing part of the onion like product, one arm of each pair being located at each side of the transport track, in which each arm of the pair for the leading part of the circumference is connected to the corresponding arm of the pair for the tailing part, and each arm of the first pair is urged in the direction of the transport track by means of a spring like element.
