The present invention relates to an apparatus for treating liquid waste (water used for washing, defluoridation, dephosphatation, denitrification, removal of chromium, removal of cadmium and of arsenic, recovery of cobalt, urban wastewaters, industrial wastewaters, etc.). The technology of the process lies in the introduction of two electrodes (cathode and anode) into an external-loop airlift reactor. The pollution control of the water is carried out by an electrochemical route. The polluants are recovered in the form of flocs at the free surface of the reactor (of the apparatus). The bubbles of hydrogen produced at the cathode, resulting from the electrolysis of water, drive the destabilized particles of the polluant towards the top of the reactor forming an easily recoverable floc. The mechanical energy which is used for stirring and even the pneumatic energy used for flotation have been replaced by electrical energy alone which is used at the same time for stirring, flotation and electrocoagulation.
|
