[Also in Group XXVI] In a vaporized fuel system of a jet propulsion engine a combustion chamber is surrounded by heat exchanger means for vaporizing the fuel therein and has means for injecting vaporized fuel into the chamber and auxiliary means for injecting vaporized or liquid fuel for combustion along the heat exchanger surface to provide temperature control of the heat exchanger. Fig. 1 shows a jet propulsion engine with reheat section 13 having a tubular heat exchanger 15 for fuel vaporization and auxiliary fuel injection means 18. Fuel for the injector 18 may be controlled by a valve 22 without passing through the heat exchanger. Alternatively, one of the main injectors has a control valve, which controls either the entire supply from the heat exchanger or a part thereof, and is arranged to direct some of the fuel directly on to the heat exchanger surface. The part directing fuel on the heat exchanger surface acts as the auxiliary injector. Another embodiment provides for a number of additional valve controlled auxiliary injectors in series.
