<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active material capable of manufacturing a nonaqueous secondary battery with high energy density and excellent in charge/discharge cycle characteristics, and to provide a positive electrode for a nonaqueous secondary battery and a nonaqueous secondary battery using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The positive electrode active material contains a composite oxide represented by a composition formula Li<SB>a</SB>Mn<SB>0.5-x</SB>Ni<SB>0.5-y</SB>M<SB>x+y</SB>O<SB>2</SB>(provided, 0.98≤a<1.1, -0.1≤x-y≤0.1, M is an element other than Li, Mn, Ni). Also, the active material contains a composite oxide represented by a composition formula Li<SB>w</SB>Mn<SB>x'</SB>Ni<SB>y'</SB>Co<SB>z'</SB>O<SB>2</SB>(provided, x', y', z' are values within a range where, on a ternary state diagram, (x', y', z') exists on a line of or within a quadrangle ABCD having apexes point A (0.51, 0.49, 0), point B (0.45, 0.55, 0), point C (0.25, 0.35, 0.4) point D (0.31, 0.29, 0.4), and 0≤w/(x'+y'+z')≤1.30). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
