<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for manufacturing a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas, in each of which the surplus slurry to be sucked from a monolith carrier is prevented from being scattered so that the recovery rate of the slurry of a liquid state can be improved and the slurry can be prevented from being sucked to a suction unit. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for manufacturing the catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas is provided with: a recovery tank 14 on which an opening 18 connectable to the suction unit is formed and which is used for recovering the surplus slurry; a conduit 16 for introducing the surplus slurry from the monolith carrier 2 into the recovery tank 14; a tubular body 17 which is arranged coaxially with the conduit 16 in the recovery tank 14 and has the inside diameter larger than that of the conduit 16.
