<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type video display device using a reflection type liquid crystal panel, which is compact and has excellent image quality performance such as brightness, contrast and resolution. <P>SOLUTION: The projection type video display device is equipped with: a light source; a color separation optical means; reflection type light valves arranged on optical paths of red light, blue light and green light separated by the color separation optical means, respectively, and optically modulating the incident red light, blue light and green light respectively so as to form an optical image; a color composition means; and a projection means. An in optical path length to the reflection type light valve on which the green light is made incident from the color separation optical means is longer than an optical path length to the respective reflection type light valves on which the red light and the blue light are made incident from the color separation optical means. In the projection type video display device, a relay optical means is provided on the optical path to the reflection type light valve on which the green light is made incident from the color separation optical means, and an optical device for selectively attenuating a color light component in a predetermined wavelength region included in the green light is disposed between the emitting side of the color separation optical means and the emitting side of the relay optical means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
