PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module which has a high heat dissipating property, is compatible with a high-frequency operation, and can be efficiently manufactured by a method of producing multiple modules from a single sheet. SOLUTION: The optical module 1 includes a printed board 30 in which wiring patterns for forming ground layers are stacked inside and wiring patterns are formed on both faces. On one face of the printed board 30, an optical element 10 is mounted. The wiring pattern on the face whereon the optical element 10 is mounted and that on the other face are thermally connected. The above one face of the printed board 30 is sealed with a transparent resin 40, and the wiring pattern formed on the other face of the printed board 30 constitutes electrodes and a heat dissipating portion.
