PRINTER, AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING RESIDUAL SUPPLYING ARTICLE AMOUNT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and a method of controlling a residual supplying article amount capable of displaying how many sheets can print thereafter or how many percentage of a whole initial number of sheets is left regarding supplying articles such as printing paper (a label continual body 2) and ink ribbon (a heat transfer ribbon 7) in order to smoothly exchange or replenish the supplying articles. SOLUTION: Residual amount control is carried out regarding the printing paper 2 or the ink ribbon 7 which is small in a residual sheet amount. The printer is provided with a controlling part 11 for calculating a residual number of sheets from a whole length of the ink ribbon 7 based on a pitch size of a single sheet of the printing paper 2 and subtracting one sheet each for every transfer operation of the supplying articles 2, 7 regarding a residual sheets of the printing paper 2 and the ink ribbon 7, and a residual amount display part 12 for displaying its residual amount regarding the supplying article 2 or 7 having the smaller amount of residual sheets between the printing paper 2 and the ink ribbon 7.
