<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary-developing type image forming apparatus capable of effectively preventing a fogging phenomenon while suppressing the occurrence of reversely charged toner. <P>SOLUTION: The rotary type image forming apparatus is provided with a developing unit 4 including cartridge type developing devices 4a, 4b, 4c and 4d for yellow, magenta, cyan and black, where the developing device and a toner container are formed as a unified body, wherein each toner is stuck to an electrostatic latent image on a photoreceptor drum 1 by successively and rotationally moving the developing devices 4a to 4d to a position facing the photoreceptor drum, then, each color toner image is formed.
