<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device making high contrast display in any display mode of transmissive display or reflective display as a transflective liquid crystal display device, and also to provide an electronic appliance equipped with the liquid crystal device. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display is provided with a reflective display part R and a transmissive display part T for every divided pixel constituting a pixel. Protrusions which adjust the liquid crystal layer thickness are continuously formed over adjacent divided pixels such that the thickness dr of liquid crystal layer of the reflective display part R of respective adjacent divided pixels is set to be smaller than the thickness dt of liquid crystal layer of the transmissive display part T. Therein, dt and dr satisfy the relations: 1.8dr≤dt≤2.4dr. Colored parts 10A, 10B, 10C of RGB are formed on a color filter 10 and the boundary of the colored parts is arranged on a position where it overlaps the protrusion. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
