PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiver which can be made multifunctional without increasing slots by using a difference in shape of an adapter mounted in a slot. SOLUTION: The digital broadcast receiver 40 has the slot 47 where adapters 30 in two kinds of shape mounted with cards 20 can be mounted, and the slot 47 has a detection switch 49 detecting a difference in shape of a mounted adapter 30, wherein when an adapter for 3.3 V is detected, it is discriminated that its card is a card for television broadcast reception and television broadcast reception processing by an input unit 26, a decoder unit 27, and a demodulation unit 28 is permitted, but when an adapter for 5 V is detected, it is discriminated that the card is a card for scramble cancellation and predetermined scrambled broadcasting is permitted to be canceled.
