PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a very convenient imaging apparatus which confirms an already picked up image even in a failure. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is provided with a plurality of functional blocks (such as an imaging part, a recording part, and a display part). A CPU 203 records error information in an error log recording area 300 of a ROM 204 when an error is generated in the functional blocks. The CPU 203 retrieves the error log recording area 300 when the imaging apparatus is started, when the error information does not exist, selects a first starting sequence and when the error information exists, selects a second starting sequence. When the second starting sequence is selected and an error similar to an error indicated by the error information recorded in the error log recording area 300 is generated, the CPU 203 prohibits operation of a functional block where the error is detected.
