PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer device that uniformly weakens adherence of toner particles and can efficiently transfer a toner image to a material to be transferred. SOLUTION: The transfer device transfers the toner image carried by an image carrier that moves in a prescribed moving direction, on a belt or on a recording medium that the belt carries. The transfer device includes a transfer unit having: a transfer member that comes into contact with the belt that passes a surface of the image carrier stacked thereon to apply voltage to the belt; and a driver for reciprocating the transfer member in a width direction of the image carrier.
