摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the problem of residual DC voltage of voltage retention, in a vertically aligned liquid crystal display device using a liquid crystal having negative dielectric anisotropy. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is composed of: a first substrate; a second substrate opposed in substantially parallel to the first substrate; a first electrode pattern formed on a main surface of the first substrate; a first molecular orientation film for covering the first electrode pattern; a second electrode pattern formed on a main surface of the second substrate; a second molecular orientation film for covering the second electrode pattern; a liquid crystal panel composed of a liquid crystal layer composed of a liquid crystal mixture constituted of a plurality of kinds of liquid crystal compositions including at least a liquid crystal molecule having the negative dielectric anisotropyΔεsealed between the first molecular orientation film and the second molecular orientation film; a first polarization element arranged in the first side of the liquid crystal panel; and a second polarization element arranged on the second side. The liquid crystal mixture has dielectric anisotropyΔεof >-3.8 and about≤-3.0, and is set to≥88°in an angle formed by a first main surface and the liquid crystal molecule in an undriven state.
