PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas leak alarm and a gas leak alarm system for saving power, and for notifying gas appliance using circumstances in inexpensive configurations. SOLUTION: A gas leak alarm 2 is provided with: a reception means 21 for receiving a gas appliance discrimination signal to be transmitted from a gas meter 1; a reception decision means 23a for deciding the presence/absence of a gas appliance discrimination signal; a first storage means 23b for storing gas appliance identification table for identifying a gas appliance arranged in the monitor region of gas leak; a gas appliance decision means 23a for, when the presence of the reception of the gas appliance discrimination signal is decided, deciding whether or not the gas appliance corresponding to the gas appliance discrimination signal is the gas appliance installed in the monitoring area of gas leak by referring to a gas appliance identification table; and a sensor driving control means 25 for driving a gas sensor 24 when it is decided that the gas appliance corresponding to the gas appliance discrimination signal is the gas appliance installed in the monitoring area of gas leak by the gas appliance discrimination means 23a.
