PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage collection vehicle capable of extinguishing fire inside of a garbage storage box even during engine stop without reducing a laden weight of garbage. SOLUTION: The garbage collection vehicle is equipped with the garbage storage box 2 having opened rear surface, an exhaust pipe 23 for discharging an exhaust gas discharged from an engine to the outside, and an exhaust gas introducing path D for introducing the exhaust gas from the exhaust pipe 23 into the inside of the garbage storage box 2. An end connection 21c for supplying an extinguishing agent or water into the inside of the garbage storage box 2 through the exhaust gas introducing path D is provided at a predetermined part of the exhaust gas introducing path D or the exhaust pipe 23.
