PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a precursor useful for manufacturing a superconducting wire rod to exhibit superior superconductive characteristics (especially critical current density and alternate current loss) by using Nb or a Nb group alloy sheet capable of exhibiting superior workability in the Nb or the Nb group alloy sheet used as a diffusion barrier layer, and the Nb or the Nb group alloy sheet like this when constituting an Nb<SB>3</SB>Sn superconducting wire rod precursor. SOLUTION: The Nb or the Nb group alloy sheet for manufacturing the superconducting wire rod is used for manufacturing the superconducting wire rod, a recrystallization rate of a crystal grain in a texture is 90% or higher, a concentration of hydrogen as an impure material is 10 ppm or lower, and the total concentration of carbon, nitrogen, and hydrogen is 200 ppm or lower.
