PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shield tunnel construction method in which segments are held on the ground by a natural ground holding material having fluidity, and a pressurized state is maintained even after filling of a back-filling material. SOLUTION: The shield tunnel construction method is carried out by assembling the segments on a rear trunk portion of a shield machine having excavated the natural ground, and thereafter, filling the back-filling material in a gap between the assembled segments and the natural ground. According to the method, the natural ground holding material having fluidity is filled in the gap between the assembled segments and the natural ground, and thereafter, recovering the filled natural ground holding material, followed by filling the back-filling material, to thereby harden the back-filling material between the assembled segments and the natural ground.
