PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface mounted crystal oscillator suitable for reduction of height. SOLUTION: In the crystal oscillator for surface mounting, a crystal piece 3 held in a concave container body 1 is covered by a cover 4, and an IC chip 2 with an integrated oscillation circuit at least is mounted on an external surface of a closed side of the container body 1. An aperture surface side of the container body 1 is used a junction surface to a set substrate. A first surrounding sealing metal film and a first junction electrode electrically connected to an IC terminal of the IC chip 2 are arranged at the aperture end side of the container body 1. The cover 4, has a second sealing metal film facing the first sealing metal film and the first junction electrode, and a second junction electrode are arranged on one principal plane, and a packaging terminal extended from the second junction electrode is arranged on the other principal plane. The first sealing metal film and the first junction electrode of the container body 1 are jointed with the second sealing metal film and the second junction electrode on one principal plane of the cover 4 using eutectic alloy.
