PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the damage of an insulating coating layer of an electric wire in the deforming work from a round electric wire to a deformed electric wire with a die. SOLUTION: This die is a die 10 for working the electric wire with which the round electric wire 20 having a circular section provided with the insulating coating layer 20b on the surface of a conductor 20a is deformed into the deformed electric wire 20A having a polygonal section and pulled out. A working hole 13 in the axial direction through which the electric wire is continuously passed has the polygonal section and an inlet 13a on the insertion side of the round electric wire 20 has a shape in which the diameter of the inscribed circle C of the polygon is equal to or larger than the diameter of the round electric wire 20 and each apex has a large curvature R and the curvature R of each apex is continuously contracted toward the outlet 13b through which the electric wire is extracted as the deformed electric wire 20A and made into a polygonal shape in which the curvature R of each apex is near to almost zero at the outlet 13b.
