The invention relates to the isolation and cloning of a gene, the recombi nant production of the protein for which the gene codes and the use of said antigen in a vaccine preparation as purified protein and/or naked DNA in ord er to induce an immune response in aquatic organisms against different speci es of ectoparasites, including those known as sea lice, and pathogens associ ated with said infestations. The vaccine preparations, which are administere d orally by means of dipping baths or injection, have demonstrated their eff ectiveness by producing an IgM-type humoral immune response and reducing the number of parasites per fish in vaccinated fish.
