<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize an arrester by improving a side face high resistance layer in a current/voltage nonlinear resistor whose main component is zinc oxide (ZnO) to be applied to an overvoltage protection apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In the current/voltage nonlinear resistor with a sintered compact 1 whose main component is zinc oxide (ZnO), by providing a side face high resistance layer 2 constituted of a carbon based amorphous material or a boron carbide based material with high adhesion strength and excellent breakdown voltage performance around the sintered compact 1, the current/voltage nonlinear resistor which is excellent in current/voltage nonlinear resistance characteristics, voltage-applied life characteristics and environment resistance and has high energy absorption capacity is obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
