<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an automatic transmission possible to be miniaturized in the radial direction in comparison with the conventional structures. <P>SOLUTION: This automatic transmission comprises a planetary gear set G3 having a ring gear R3, multiple disc clutches L1 and L2 supported by a drum portion 29 and a hub portion 27, a clutch piston 31 pushing for engaging the multiple disc clutches by pushing them, and a clutch oil pressure chamber 30, to which oil pressure for operating the clutch piston is supplied.
