PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently develop the monitoring effects of the periphery of a vehicle by avoiding a dangerous circumstance while reducing the labor of an operator in monitoring the periphery of a vehicle. SOLUTION: This obstacle monitoring device 10 is provided with: a camera visual field angle control part 13a for controlling the angle of the camera visual field of a monitoring camera 30; an obstacle recognition part 13b for recognizing an obstacle included in an image picked by the monitoring camera 30; and a display control part 13f for, when an obstacle is recognized by the obstacle recognition part 13b, making a display part 11a display the ambient image of a vehicle 1 including the obstacle regardless of vehicle speed.
