PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone reducing a power for an illumination for illuminating an operating region. SOLUTION: In the foldable portable telephone 100, a main body section 4 and a display section 7 are connected through a hinge section 8 in a foldable manner. In the foldable portable telephone 100, an illuminating section 9 is fitted to the hinge section 8 rotated with a folding operation, and the illuminating section 9 irradiates the operating region 31 with a light when the display section 7 is opened from the main body section 4 while irradiating the outside of the portable telephone 100 with the light when the display section 7 is folded to the main body section 4.
