PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately perform atmospheric pressure learning in an internal combustion engine with an airflow control valve (tumble control valve). SOLUTION: An engine ECU executes a program comprises: steps S1000-S1500 detecting or calculating elapsed time ST after engine start, an engine speed NE, a vehicle speed V, throttle opening fluctuationΔα, engine cooling water temperature THW and an engine load KL; a step S1700 detecting openingβof the TCV, if an atmospheric pressure learning control condition other than the TCV is satisfied (YES in S1600); and a step S2100 setting an atmospheric pressure learning permission flag, if a time where not less than sixty degrees of the openingβof the TCV continues for 5 seconds or longer (YES in S1800 and YES in S2000).
