PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet-retaining device capable of retaining a sheet stably, without leaving scratches or traces, regardless of the curling of the sheet in retaining the sheet, and to provide a recording device. SOLUTION: This sheet-retaining device is provided with a sheet-stacking section 2 arranged apart from a discharging port 1, and a pressing means 40 capable of pressing the sheet in the sheet-stacking section. The pressing means is movable between a pressing position and a retreat position relative to the sheet-stacking section, and is provided with a sheet contact section 44, contacting the stacked sheet at the pressing position. Corresponding to the displacement of part of the sheet 8, contacting the sheet contact section, the sheet contact section, is movable so as to be contacted with the same part of the sheet.
